MARINE ELECTRICIAN

Our client a multinational organization with offices in several continents is urgently looking to fill vacancies for their operation at Diego Garcia, Indian Ocean Highland.

POSITION TITLE: MARINE ELECTRICIAN
DEPARTMENT PORT OPERATIONS
POSITION REPORT TO: SUPERVISOR, MARINE ELECTRICIAN

 

DESCRIPTION OF JOB TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of vessels/crafts and industrial plant equipment cognizant to A-06 Port Operations and all related electrical repairs and overhauling works, including but not limited to:
  1. Removal and installation, overhaul, repairs, diagnosing problems of electrical systems such as; alternating and direct current electrical power generators, air conditioning units, electric motors, starter motors, power distribution, transformers, electrical controls, radio and communication equipment, lightings, magnetic coils, magnetic switches, relays, circuit breakers, batteries, battery charging systems (alternators/regulators), electrical wirings and all other electrical related equipment, parts and accessories onboard floating assets of A-06 Port Operations.
  2. Overhaul and repair of Navigational Aids System on buoys and Land Markers, and Fire and Flooding Alarm Systems of fuel barges.
  3. Repairs of welding machines, starter motors, alternators, pressure washers, portable air compressors, electrical pumps / hand tools and various Industrial Plant Equipment (IPE) and electrical equipment.
  4. Performance of assigned scheduled (PMS) maintenance requirements on boats, crafts and IPEs, compliant with US Navy 3M System.
  5. Support to maintenance and repairs of Syncrolift Shiplift & Transfer System.
  • Maintains awareness to safety requirements and all work areas clean and in good housekeeping.
  • Performs other duties as required to support contract requirements of A-06.

 

 BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must demonstrate a clear knowledge of electrical trade theory & National Electrical Code.
  • Must have knowledge and be able to use or operate electrical test equipment & tools.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret electrical / electronic / mechanical schematic drawings, sketches, or blueprints.
  • Must speak, read, and understand English language both orally and in writing.
  • Must pass the overseas medical screening and be in good health.
  • Holder of a valid driver’s license.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING

  • Certified PQS 301 (Maintenance Personnel), Personnel Qualification Standard for Ship Maintenance and Material Management (3M) System.

 

EDUCATION:

  • High School graduate coupled with vocational course related to Industrial or Shipboard Electrical Technology.
  • Degree in engineering or formal schooling/apprenticeship course in Industrial or Shipboard Electrical Technology is preferred but not necessary.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of three (3) year experience as Marine Electrician in Naval Ship Repair Facility or commercial shipyards.

 

Basic terms of the job offer.

  • Assignment Duration: 12 months. Renewal subject to performance and project status.
  • Base Monthly Salary: 48 hours per week minimum work requirement: $510.00 (based on 48 hr. work week requirement)
  • Working schedule: 48 hours per week (8 hours per day/6 days a week)
  • Payroll period: Monthly. Amount give take home.
  • Overtime: Work more than 8 hours per day or work performed on a rest day and/or holiday, will be paid as overtime at the base salary rate.
  • Accommodations: Housing, transportation, meals in-country, and laundry facilities are provided
  • Sick Leave: Employee will accrue 2.67 hours of sick leave for each full month of service, beginning with the completion of the first full month of Foreign Service employment.
  • Annual leave Up to 21 days paid at the end of each 12-month contract.
  • Travel will be provided by the employer to the employee’s home country.
  • Project Holidays: 10 paid holidays. New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday, President’s Day, Philippine Independence Day, USA Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day

 

Other requirements

  • Your driver’s license must be valid for at least 6 months (unless processing for a CDL-required position, which will require 12 months remaining).
